What i'm working on! - New York Times Bestselling Author, J. Sterling

What i'm working on!

So a bunch of you are just now finding me and my books... which is flipping AWESOME, don't get me wrong.

I can't tell y'all that enough!!! :)

But before you found me, I'd already written two books.  And one of those books is a YA series (in dreams)... it's not a cliffhanger type of series, it's just a series in the sense that the characters' story continues... or actually PREtinues. I know that's not a word. But basically, the second book in the series takes us to the past, in a past life where we experience the connection the characters have to each other and why we're drawn to particular people, or why we hate them for no reason, etc.  Basically, it will make In Dreams a much stronger book once you have all their past to take into consideration.

So I really need to work on that story. I'd intended to release it this year, but at this point, there is no way that's going to happen. But I want to write it. I want to finish it. And in all honesty, I think i'll pick it up again tomorrow (it's half way done. eh, maybe a third).

And then I want to seriously think about writing a 2nd book in The Perfect Game. But I want it to make sense. I want it to be for the right reasons- and I want to feel PULLED toward the next story I want to tell for those characters.

Basically, I want to have a good story. And I don't want to rush it, or force it, or write something because everyone is demanding me too. I want to write it because my heart is demanding me too.  Because Dean, Melissa, Jack & Cassie won't take no for an answer. lol  I just want to do it justice.

But it has to make sense. And right now, I can barely think outside of the story I just wrote, so it's hard for me to think outside of the box creatively in continuing this story, or spinning it off.  So just bear with me.

I promise that when that lightning idea for TPG 2 strikes me, you'll be the first to know!

Until then...keep reading books you love, and reviewing them, and telling people to read them. "Reading is dreaming with open eyes"

  1. I can't wait to hear more of Cassie and Jack's story! I just read this book in one day! Move over Kellan Kyle, pretty sure my new book boyfriend is Jack Carter :)

  2. This is a brilliant idea Jenn! <3 I bet it will come to you soon if you think about it enough like the last one. :)We all have faith in you. Good luck!

Jenn - I can not wait until you publish your next book. My daughter and I enjoy your stroies very much and have read all three of your books.

There are so many directions a sequel to the TPG can go, it is refreshing to hear that you are not going to rush the process, and that the story has to feel "right" to you. Best of luck. Waiting patiently for another great story!!!

  4. I cannot wait to see what your creative mind comes up with for the next book in the series!! I don't care if it's more Jack/Cass, if it's Dean or if it's Melissa!! I just want more of your writing!! I've read Chance Encounters and loved it! I even bought the paperback of that one already!!!

(But I have to say, secretly, don't tell anyone...I really want some more Jack-fucking-Carter!!!) I have serious fantasies about that man!!!

  5. I like "pretinue". I think you just invented a new word!

I look forward to reading the "pretinuation" of the story. But I'll be patient, so don't think I'm rushing you. Basically, I just wanted to use your new word in a sentence. :)

  6. I really really like the perfect game and when the book eneded I felt like there was alot put into the first half of the book on Jack and "Kitten's" meeting and developing a relationship because of both of there pasts. I felt like the last half of the book was really rushed but I am all for a second book because I think that it could go anywhere and I am excited to see where it goes because they are truely in love. Also it was a truely great book though I would recommend it to anyone to read!!!!!

Great book, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Thank you for a good story and a complete story, with developed characters. Would love to read more about Jack and Cassie some day soon, wanted to hear his side of the 6 months they didn't speak. Thanks again read it in a day as well and I cant get them out of my head, need to go back for a second reading!

I am so glad to hear there is a possibility for more Jack and Cassie in my life! I read the entire book yesterday and couldn't put it down. When the book ended I felt sad that the story didn't continue. That's when I know I loved the writing, characters, and storyline. I agree that I would love to know more about Jack's 6 months we don't hear from him. I also can't wait to hear more about their life together in more detail. Thank you for your writing! I am looking forward to TPG 2!
