I'm writing this for no other reason than I freaking want to. What other reason do I need, really? LOL
There was a time when I felt bad about wanting to make money as an author. I. FELT. BAD about asking people to pay me money for my books. Hell, there was a time when I couldn't even SAY the word "author" when I was talking about myself. I felt like a sham.... like that title was something I needed to earn- and clearly having 1, or 2 or even 3 self-published books didn't earn me that right.
It's an interesting thing, putting your heart on the line in each novel the way that we do. Or at least the way I do. I'm an extremely sensitive being. You may not think that when you meet me because i'm pretty straight forward, blunt and aggressive- but it's true. My guts are deeply sensitive. They hurt easily. It's part of who I am ... I am very emotional.
How do I always stray so quickly?! LOL Okay, back to the point.... there was a time when I first started out that I didn't feel worthy of making money. I know that might sound crazy, but it's true. I didn't feel like my books were as great as other books out there. I felt like they didn't warrant a higher price tag and so I basically gave them away for free to anyone who wanted to read them, or said they would. Everything felt like a constant choice- either gain readers OR make money. It seemed like I had to pick one or the other (sometimes to be honest, it still does) and I couldn't have both. I chose the readers because I wanted to reach as many people as possible with my words and hopefully grow and gain a fan base so that I eventually COULD make money doing this. Making a living became my #1 goal because I quickly realized just how much I LOVED writing. And I never wanted to stop doing it.
As I continued to work my ass off as a self-employed human and my writing grew, so did my self worth when it came to this business. It really is an evolution that we all go through from first starting out to wherever we are now. I know that it isn't the readers "problem" all the things self-pubbed authors have to pay for on our own, what we miss out on, how we prioritize, etc.... It's not your issue what I choose to do to maintain my business, or how many people I have to pay to help me run it (accountants, lawyers, advisors, editors, designers, formatters, etc). But in that same regard, I sometimes long for a smidgeon of understanding.
That this IS my business.
My livelihood.
I'm trying to save for my son's future the same way you're trying to save for yours. I have goals and dreams the same way you guys do. Right before The Perfect Game took off, I lost the first (and only) home I'd ever bought. I've struggled. I've lived paycheck to paycheck the majority of my life. I've gotten into HUGE debt as a single mom before. I know what it's like to scrimp and save for things that might seem silly to others, but know would bring you immense joy to have.
Those of us who work for other people expect to get a paycheck for our work each month. Why do we all somehow see Indie Authors as "not worthy" of getting paid for theirs? We like to tell them what to price their books at, what their books are worth, and what we're willing to pay.
It's really hard being on this end of that issue.
I don't want you guys to ever think i'm a greed based person. I'm not. But as I've grown in this industry and feel like I've paid my dues, I do believe my books are worthy of a certain price point. And the thing is, I don't want to feel bad about that. I'm tired of feeling bad about asking readers to pay for my hard work and talent. I can't give it away for free all the time. And I know the flip side is that you guys read 2390482394 books a month and so you can't afford to read every single book you might want too. But if I've learned anything from y'all, it's that if there is a book you want, you WILL buy it, no matter the cost. You all taught me that. Time and time again. You're always teaching me things.
I have no idea what the hell my point is anymore. Sometimes I just enjoy verbally vomiting to you guys so that we can try to bridge the gap that seems to exist between author and reader. I like you guys to understand the why's of things. At least from my perspective. I love and appreciate you all so much. Thank you for everything you've always done for me. I don't even have a career without you and I am FULLY aware of that. Always. Don't ever think I take you for granted.

Frat Party
I glanced down at the red plastic cup in my hand, still filled with just as much beer as I’d started with when we first arrived at the frat party. Only now it was lukewarm instead of ice cold. I wasn’t sure why I continued to clutch the cup like it was some sort of safety net. Or maybe it was—as long as I held it, no one bugged me and tried to get me to drink anything else.
Lord knows I had enough to deal with just being the brother of Jack Carter. It was my responsibility to make sure we got home all right. Not that Jack tended to drink all that much during baseball season, but still.
“Hey, Dean.” A leggy blonde wove her way through the crowd in the fraternity house’s front yard to reach me. I had no idea who she was.
“Hey,” I said back, not wanting to be rude, but knowing from experience what would come next.
“Where’s your brother?”
And there it was, the one thing that ninety-nine percent of the female population at Fullton State cared about—my older brother, Jack.
Without saying a word, I pointed in the direction of the driveway where he stood with a few of his teammates, watching another blond girl dancing.
“Wanna introduce me to him?” She batted what had to be fake eyelashes at me, and I blew out a long breath.
“Not really. He’s not hard to talk to, I promise. Just go say hi.”
I gave her a little shove, which was probably rude, but hell. Sometimes it was annoying being the younger brother of a future major league baseball player. That was part of the reason why everyone wanted a piece of him, especially the girls. They knew he was going places, and they wanted to hitch a ride.
Girls were weird, and I’d never understand them.
I looked back at my brother, realizing he held a short girl by her arm for half a second before letting go. The little pixie stood there, apparently annoyed, scowling up at him as she tapped her foot on the concrete. Jack leaned toward her, saying Lord knows what.
That was when I realized who she was.
Melissa.
Please God, if you care about me at all, don’t let Jack be interested in her. Or vice versa.
I had a class with Melissa, and often found myself staring at her tanned legs instead of paying attention to the teacher. I’d caught her staring back at me too, and on the few occasions that she had sat next to me, her leg had occasionally bumped mine, or her shoulder brushed against me, and I’d get a whiff of her strawberry-scented shampoo.
We flirted, that much I knew. And she seemed interested, but so far I hadn’t worked up the nerve to do anything more than ask for her name. I’d thought of those big blue eyes and silky brown hair more often than I cared to admit.
Hell, maybe I was more like Jack than I realized, I thought, but then gave myself a mental slap. No, no way. I didn’t want to sleep with Melissa and then never do it again. That kind of shit wasn’t in my DNA the way it was in my brother’s.
Melissa passed by me in a huff as she stormed into the frat house, and I smiled to myself before chasing after her. Being pissed off suited her. Her blue eyes practically gave off sparks when she was mad, making her look like a pissed-off Tinker Bell.
“Melissa!” I shouted over the music, but she didn’t seem to hear, so I shouted her name once more as I reached for her arm.
She instinctively yanked out of my grasp and whipped around to face me, her eyes narrowed and blazing, ready to do battle. But once she realized it was me, everything softened. Her expression, her body language, everything relaxed. Then her pretty face broke out into a big smile.
“Dean, hi!”
When she launched herself into my arms and gave me a big hug, I hugged her back and breathed her in, trying not to look like a douchebag. She smelled like summer. After a beat, I reluctantly released her.
“Was my brother bothering you?” I nodded my head in the direction of the front door.
“Your brother’s an asshole.”
Thank you, God, I thought, assuming that this meant Melissa was not, and never would be, interested in him. He could have all the other girls in Southern California, but not this one.

Hey y'all! To celebrate my birthday this weekend, I've put EVERY SINGLE TITLE (that I own) ON SALE for the first time ever! I have never, ever, ever, ever done this before and will most likely never, ever, ever, ever do it again.
SO!
With that being said- you have this weekend only (48 hours give or take a few) to grab any title of mine for over half off! If you've ever wanted to gift any of my books to one of your friends, your relatives, your enemies- this weekend would be the time to do it!
If you're missing a title of mine to add to your J. Sterling collection- now's your chance to grab it! Like I said, a sale like this is probably only happening because I'm getting older and clearly losing my mind and will most likely never happen again. :)

10 Years Later EPILOGUE
When I originally wrote Dalton & Cammie's story, I purposely didn't include an epilogue. That's because there was a small part of me that thought I might want to write more to their story someday and if I had answered all the questions in the epilogue, then there would be nothing more for me to tell.
After a little time went by, I realized that another book was most likely not a possibility. I simply have too many stories in my head that i'm dying to get out. With that realization came another... that I wanted, no needed, to give them an epilogue. Dalton and Cammie needed a proper ending. :)
So without further adieu, I give you the epilogue to 10 Years Later- A Second Chance Romance. You have to click the link to avoid spoiling the story for those who haven't yet read it. I hope you enjoy it as much as do.
CLICK HERE FOR THE 10 YEARS LATER EPILOGUE
Please note that I am in the process of updating the ebooks, as well as the paperback versions to include the epilogue. You'll be able to tell if your version has the epilogue included when you look at the front matter, it should read "2nd Edition." If it doesn't say that, it's still the original version. Thank you for your patience and your excitement! Tell your friends!

There are 3 books in Jack Carter Land
It shocks me everytime I get an email asking me if I'll ever write a Dean & Melissa book. I always respond and ask the person if they read The Sweetest Game (the last book in the series) or not and they always respond back saying they didn't know there was a third book!
THERE IS A THIRD BOOK PEOPLE! Jack F'n Carter and Cassie have 3 books.
Three.
Trois.
Tres. ...
Tri.
3.
There are 3 books in the Perfect Game Series. And if you don't read that last one, then yeah- you still have questions. You still want more. You still don't have FULL resolution for anyone. Which is probably why it's my favorite of the three books. There's so much damn happy in it (after some suckage, of course).
The Perfect Game & The Game Changer are still only $1.99 on Amazon right now and I've recently enrolled The Sweetest Game in Kindle Unlimited so all of you who are members can read it for free. :) There are three books. You need to read them all or you'll be sad forever. And you'll think poor Dean is a lonely bachelor forever with a bunch of large dogs. He might be. You wouldn't know though unless you read the book. lol

BREAKING STARS SYNOPSIS:
Acting since she was 14 years old, Paige Lockwood finds herself craving a little normalcy after a scandal rocks her otherwise predictable world. With everyone in her life attempting to control her, she takes matters into her own hands and leaves town without so much as a plan or a true destination. But the destination finds her, as car trouble forces Paige to settle down in a small Southern town until it can be fixed. There she meets the handsome, albeit standoffish, Tatum Montgomery and both of their lives are forever altered as they learn that sometimes when you aren't looking for love, it finds you anyway.
But the question is; how do you hold on to it when you're from two completely different worlds?

Paige
When a text message pinged on my phone, I clicked
on the link included without thinking. I didn’t bother reading the contents of
the text or the link description; knowing it was from my best friend, Quinn,
was enough of a reason to absentmindedly click for me. Usually she sent me
links to things she thought I should see that involved our friends, coworkers,
or her boyfriend. This link, however, had nothing to do with any of her usual
subjects, and when I realized that, my heart stopped.
The video appeared grainy at first as the cell phone camera
adjusted to the strobe lighting in the club. My boyfriend, Colin, suddenly
appeared in the frame, a smile plastered on his face as his eyes focused on
someone or something not in the picture. He raised a hand, waving someone over
toward him, his grin growing more mischievous.
My brain screamed at me to stop watching. Something inside
begged me to look away, turn it off, throw my smart phone across the room, but
I couldn’t. It was obviously bad enough for Quinn to send to me, so I had to
keep watching.
No matter how much it was going to hurt.
An overly busty blonde sauntered
into view, showing more skin than clothes, dancing seductively as she made her
way toward my boyfriend. He reached for her waist and pulled her onto his lap.
She straddled him, her legs wrapping around his very private area in very plain
sight.
Who
does that?
The blonde’s skirt rode up,
revealing her bare ass, and Colin’s hands were suddenly there, squeezing it,
slapping it, lifting her skirt higher. As she leaned her head toward his face,
I honestly thought for a second he’d come to his senses. Maybe he wouldn’t kiss
her. Maybe he’d toss her off his lap, tell her to go to hell, and rush out of
the club, humiliated. Then again, that type of thing only happened in the books
I read and the movies I starred in. Most guys weren’t anywhere near as
well-behaved as we women wanted them to be.
As if reading my mind, Colin fisted
a handful of her hair, and I watched as he yanked her head back, causing the
rest of her hair to spill provocatively behind her. His lips pressed against
her neck as he licked his way up to her mouth. She laughed, and then he kissed
her. It was a mess of tongues and body parts grinding, with hands roaming in
places hands shouldn’t be roaming in public.
I’d seen more than enough, so I
stopped the video and tried to remind myself how to breathe, my heart pounding
as if I were on a treadmill. If anything came after that spectacle—no pun
intended—I didn’t need to see it.
Pushing off from the couch, I walked
to my window and glanced down toward the street, noticing the swarm of
paparazzi already beginning to form.
They’re
quick.
This wasn’t the first time claims of
infidelity like this had been leveled against my pop-star boyfriend, Colin
McGuire, but it was the first time pictures had accompanied the accusations. If
a picture spoke a thousand words, this horrendous video and the photos that
accompanied it screamed a million. Colin could never talk his way out of my
seeing his tongue being buried in that woman’s throat, seeing him grab her ass
and grinding on her for all to see.
Falling back on the couch, I tried
to unsee what I’d just watched. I couldn’t believe Colin was so blatant and
stupid. Most celebrities knew if they were going to cheat, they should do it
where people couldn’t watch them or take photos for proof. Apparently the VIP
section of a club in London was not that place. Maybe he wanted to get caught?
But why not just break up with me first?

Hands down, the #1 question I get all the time is whether or not I'll be writing books for the kids. You know the ones... Jack & Cassie's kids.
And every time someone asks me that, I want to scream from the rooftops, YES! YES! OMG, HELL TO THE YES!!!!!
But if I did that, the next question would be... WHEN? WHEN? WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN??????
And that's the thing about me as a writer.... I simply cannot force my stories. I can't make them come to life in my mind just because I think I'm ready to start writing them. There are a lot of other writers out there who map out their year; they know exactly what they'll be writing and when and I see those lists and always wonder how on Earth they can possibly do that? Because I have a list of books I want to write (and yeah, they're even written down too)- but I don't know WHEN they'll get written.
The honest to God truth is, I have at least (AT LEAST!) 10 books that are in various stages of being written on my computer. I can't make myself write this story or that one; I have to feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel it. I add to those stories as they call to me...write pieces of them as I feel pulled too. It has to be ready to come out... almost like a birthing process. TMI? Probably, but it's still the cold hard truth when it comes to me and my writing style.
Until one of them demands all of my attention, my attention is scattered among all of them.
Trust me, I've tried to force certain stories out before. And it does.not.work.
It creates more pain than pleasure;
more confusion than clarity;
more blocks than flow.
At least that's how it is for me.
So to answer all of your questions and your emails over the past year: YES, I want to write a story for Chance. Hell YES I want to write it. But I don't want to do it an injustice. I don't want to write his story for the sake of writing his story: I want it to be authentic to Chance and his voice. I want it to be a good story... one worthy of your time and your excitement. And mine as well. Because he's a Carter for cripes sake. And Carter's deserve nothing less. :)

In case you missed it, 10 Years Later hit the NEW YORK TIMES bestseller's list at #16 for the week of April 19th. (it also hit the USA TODAY bestseller list as well)
I... can't... even... there are no words. Well, there are words like "thank you" and "oh my gosh" and things like that- but they seem so stupid. I'm overwhelmed with this honor. And yes, I do feel honored.
Instead of babbling incessantly here, I'm going to copy/paste what I wrote over on my author page on Facebook because it pretty much says it all. But first, if you're reading this on my website and it's your first time hearing the news - YAY, right?!?! :)

I just got home a little over an hour ago from Blake's baseball game and I logged online to SO MUCH LOVE from everyone about my hitting the New York Times news.
First of all, I wanted to express my sincerest thanks to this community. My fellow authors, my readers, strangers and friends alike- your comments, your words, your support is so humbling to me, you have no idea. I just finished reading every single comment, looked at every single post and responded to every single email. I hope you know how much I appreciate the time you take to make ME feel special. Because that's what you've all done for me tonight- you've celebrated with me, you've been happy for me, you've congratulated me and I can not thank you all enough for your kindness.

It took me 4 years and 8 book releases to hit this list, so this wasn't something that happened for me overnight. And in that same regard, I know that there are still so many authors out there who have worked longer, worked harder, and released far more than 8 novels, who are still trying to hit it. To those writers, please know that I never ever take this for granted and yes, I do know how lucky I am.
Again, I just really wanted to thank each one of you for being so genuinely thrilled for me. It has been your reactions and words that have made me tear up more than hitting the list did. I love and respect so many of you. Thank you for loving and respecting me back.

People always ask me how they can "help" or what they can do when it comes to spreading the word about my books. The two things I always tell them are #1- to leave a spoiler-free (if possible) review wherever they bought the book from and on Goodreads if they are a member. And #2- to recommend any book they loved to their friends, peers, people who love reading, etc.
Reviews and word of mouth are the 2 very best things you can do for any author, myself included. Without you, how will other people even know I exist? Thank you for helping other readers find out about me. You are appreciated! :)

Prologue
Cammie
You would think since the invention of the Internet
that most people wouldn’t even be interested in having a high school reunion.
Social media has all but taken away the mystery that used to be the most fun
and appealing part of going to one in the first place. Nowadays, we no longer have
to wonder how people from our class are doing; we see their mundane updates on
the Internet every hour. Don’t get me wrong, I’m pretty sure my last status update
went something like, “Taco Bell for lunch. So wrong, I don’t wanna be right.”
Yes, I realize I’m part of the problem.
Online interaction means that I know exactly what everyone
from my high school has been up to for the last ten years. I know where
everyone works, who they’re married to, what they look like now, how many kids
they have, everything. The very idea of a reunion
seems anticlimactic, to say the least.
Yet, I still want to be there. And so does everyone else,
apparently, because it’s happening. Even though we already know about each other’s
lives, I guess we still want to see our classmates in person, to have face-to-face
conversations instead of cyber ones. To be honest, for me it’s mostly about
seeing one particular someone in person. And I have no idea if he’ll be there
or not.
For whatever reason, Dalton Thomas doesn’t have any social
media pages, and I’d be lying if I told you it hasn’t driven me absolutely
bat-shit crazy at times over the last ten years. I have no idea where he is,
what he’s been doing, if he’s married (please don’t be
married), or what he looks like now. And trust me, it’s not for lack of
trying. Because I tried . . . I tried to find him all over Cyber Land.
Mostly I convinced myself that it was to satisfy my perfectly natural
curiosity, but I know the truth lay somewhere deeper than I cared to admit. The
more I tried to find him and failed, the more obsessed I became. But none of it
mattered, because I always came up empty-handed.
Dalton Thomas refused to be found.

Most of you know that I don't read anywhere near as much as I'd like to. The TBR (to-be-read) list on my Kindle has so many books, I'm not sure I could even get through them in this lifetime. As a writer, it's sometimes hard to find that balance between reading books that make you FEEL something, and not reading at all because you're focusing on your own writing.
I love reading stories that resonate with me... stories that make me feel like they could really happen off the pages... stories with heart. Which is funny (or not) because that's exactly the kind of stories I like to write. So what does that really say about me?! LOL
Three very distinct books stand out that I've read lately, and I just want to post about them here because I feel like they deserve that little extra bout of recognition. I want everyone to read these stories. I want everyone to fall in love the way I did and get lost in the pages of books that make you feel, give you hope, make you root for couples, make you laugh and make you cry. I know that we all have different styles, different tastes and preferences... these three are all examples of mine.
I hope you'll read them and love them as much as I did. At the very least, download the SAMPLE on Amazon and see if you're hooked. That's what I always do. If i'm not invested by the end of the sample, then I move on. Brutal, I know. lol If you click on the book cover, or the title of the book, you'll be directed to the Amazon page.
Alright- here goes. :)
I LITERALLY just finished Fisher's Light by Tara Sivec. It is crappy of me to tell you about this book because you can't even buy it yet, but it will be out soon. Like soon, soon, so if you have a Goodreads account, or you write down books you want to buy, I implore you to add this one to the list. I was hooked in the prologue and the story never stopped drawing me in. It was beautifully written, emotionally gut wrenching, and everything the characters went through- I was right there with them. I was all in from the second I started. Hell, it's done and i'm STILL all in. ALL. IN. This is a second chance love story. It's beautiful. It's sad. It's a must, freaking, read. I'm actually having a book hangover right now and I don't even want to read anything else because i'd like to just enjoy basking in this story for a little while longer..... I loved it that much. :)
Kaleidoscope Hearts by Claire Contreras is another second chance love story that was beautifully written. It was such a heartwarming story about love, loss, and relationships on all levels (family, friends, etc). I adored this book and only wish that the hearts she created were a real thing that I could buy and put in my office. :)
The Pact by Karina Halle was a friends to lovers book that just sucked me in. The writing in this book gripped at my heart with it's simplistic emotions. I connected with the words that were said and the way they were said. I loved so much about this story- it made me FEEEEEL- right in my guts. Gotta love that.
